And, of course, the Horizon Club....Western's private lounges with open bar, snacks, interesting celebrity sightings at LAX, and an escort to your plane for early boarding in smaller stations.
They also had the first (?) frequent flyer promotion BEFORE there were programs. Fly two round-trip flights and get a coupon good for a round trip, anywhere in the system, for $100(?? - it has been about 38 years, so my memory is hazy). I did one business trip and my first (and only?) mileage run (LAX-SAN for about $50). Then I flew to Alaska for my promo flight.
