A tale of caution to others trying to cancel award reservations. Do not go for the cancel flight without redeposit option. It is impossible to use that "combo" voucher of miles and $ online - searching for any route, like UA hub to hub routes with countless flights per day, for any time 1-331 days out, always shows that completely nothing is available, though both revenue and award bookings are wide open. Yes, you can see it in the "Cancelled" tab under "My Trips," but the supposed credit is impossible to redeem online. In short, if you fall into that trap and don't get it redeposited properly, it is impossible to use - without likely spending hours upon hours trying to get a phone agent to get it through later. It is probably better to standard your ground and exercise the legal right to a full refund to the original form of payment as is due in case of flight cancellation.
