Yep, worked for me in Cap Cana. The actual rate wasn't hugely less expensive, but the extra 20% was nice. My BRG was accepted within 12 hours.
The playa website seems to pretty consistently run just a bit lower than the hyatt website.

I booked a rate on playa resorts website that requires a deposit for my entire stay but is refundable if I cancel 15 days out while the hyatt rate requires the cost of my stay if I dont cancel 15 days out. The room type is exactly the same, was your booking similar to this?
