Aeroplan has the ability to force open revenue space on AC when flights are cancelled. It's possible that this may change given the current carnage, but what's also true is that bookings are way down and award availability is way up, especially in the short term. So there's no guarantee, but I like OP's chances a lot better than you seem to.
