Indeed. It does absolutely exist and it' clear when you track EF for your flights. However, it is not a benefit/entitlement and you can't invoke it onboard if others move or cc move passengers in to your blocked seat.
I’ve been relatively lucky with TS but I’d rather sit at the rear of the cabin and have a better chance of an empty seat than towards the front.
At check in an agent said to me oh the flight isn’t busy I’ll get flight management to block it for you so now I ask to check with FM. Sometimes they say yes, sometimes they say check later in the lounge.
I believe crew can’t see TS as it’s not official whereas they can see comfort seats and seats blocked by FM.
