does associated 'B' domestic fare carry over from PPlus booking?

I'm considering doing SYD->SFO->RDU in PPlus. The domestic legs of an R or A-fare ticket appear to book into B. Does anyone know if that 'B' fare is treated consistently for things like same-day changes, auto-upgrades for domestic segments, and whatever other things the fare class might be used for?

This specific instance revolves around my wanting to very likely do a same-day-change once I arrive back in the US. If UA treats my ticket as if it were booked into B, the availability is far better than if it's booked into something else.

And while it would be perfectly logical to assume that "because it looks like it's booked in B, it will act like a B fare" .. we all know that's not always a safe assumption!
