It is a crazy idea to get the last two flights i need for BA status. That is how it became a mileage run ex-US for less than a regular roundtrip. I am not 100% sure I will actually do it. i have a few more hours to decide to cancel the IB leg under the 24hrs clause. I do appreciate your insight and info. If you need flights instead of Tier Points, you can simply add 2 cheap domestic IB flights at your leisure after arriving to MAD, then take a direct flight home using miles or something the next morning...
IB flights count the same as BA flights for the 4-flight minimum for Silver or Gold.
