American miles still expire. It's just a bit hidden on the American website, you have to not only login, and go to your account, but then go to your Wallet. There for me it says:

Award Miles
Available: XXXXX

Expires Jul 10, 2021
Oh, OK. Good that I'm still using RN to earn AA miles.
