I wouldn’t consider this a great deal. I did same trip twice in 2019 (Feb and Apr) in DL Z fare for $980. Even though it’s lieflat on a 767–300 with the falling apart old first generation lieflat seats. And the timing of the flights is not ideal at all.
I did some more research, and it appears most of the airline bloggers echo your sentiments. In that case, I may just cancel within the 24 hour window and book the much cheaper option with Aeromexico to Quito instead, since we’ve been to Peru but not Ecuador. Thanks for the reality check.
