I had a very analogous situation with an Ipad and wrote a nice letter.
I have also left an iPad onboard without realizing it until I was about to leave the airport and I heard a couple of people behind me calling me by name. I turned around to see the 2 FAs working my section of the cabin coming towards me and they told me I had left the iPad on the shelf at my seat. They didnt have it with them but told me how to retrieve it which I ended up doing the following day since I did not have time that day.
