Mercure Jakarta gatot subroto

Location Location is south Jakarta, a little further from the cbd if you need to be in quickly, it's around 30 minutes with the Jakarta traffic. However still a decent location. Check In Check in was smooth, greeted by the duty manager who escorted us to our room. He let us know of all the benefits etc for platinum members. I had a big issue reserving the room as I asked for an upgrade, the hotel emailed me back saying I could get an upgrade but I would need to pay as it is a suite and they don't upgrade suites which is against the terms of platinum membership. suites should not be excluded from platinum perks (upon availability of course). Amy got involved and the long and short of it was that I was emailed by the manager of the hotel saying they would upgrade me to a suite. a disappointment then to see when I arrived in the room that the hotel is again making their own policy. See attached picture for the benefits. It says upgrade to higher category room (except suites) surely hotels aren't allowed to make their own policies regarding upgrades? Room Wow. What can I say. The suites in this hotel are incredible for a mercure. 180 degree panoramic view with huge windows. Separate lounge, free standing bathtub, lovely fittings. It wouldn't look out of place in some of accors (sorry all's) luxury brands. they have 6 suites and are really reasonably priced, a 1 night stay next week for example is only £90. some uk ibis are this price depending on the city haha.the amenities in the bathroom are a little disappointing because they are just the standard mercure ones, but I'm splitting hairs here as it's not a luxury hotel.maybe if they differentiated because it's a suite it would make it a little more personal and you would feel a bit more vip. Service Staff super friendly, attentive for all needs. Room service delivered quickly and housekeeping on point every day. Dining Had room service a couple of times, didn't eat dinner in the main restaurant but had breakfast which was a decent spread. food was good quality and reasonable price, the room service dinner in the picture was only about £15 in total. a uk mercure pizza costs £16 in most hotels and it's a frozen job that any old joe could cook!you can see the welcome gift in the picture too, a nicely presented cake thing and some fruit.mini bar was free, 1 bottle of water, 2 cokes, 1 green tea and 1 coconut water each day. plenty on offer for breakfast with a good selection although I'm not sure who would eat spaghetti bolognese for breakfast or pasta carbonara but that was one of the "western" choices.they also had an Asian selection and an egg or omelette station. there didn't appear to be any made to order stuff apart from the eggs so it's the buffet and that's it I think. Overall This is a relatively new hotel, soft opening was March 2019, and you can tell from the rooms etc as everything is clean and modern. 'it's a great inexpensive hotel in Jakarta and as I said the suites are amazing for a mercure. the only thing that lets this hotel down is the own policy making of saying you can't be upgraded to a suite. They are not a luxury brand hotel so excluded from suite night upgrades so there shouldn't be any exception to the rules.
