I haven’t stayed there but live in the neighborhood. The hotel is located on the northern most end of Midtown, and isn’t centrally located. It’s not near Piedmont Park, Ponce City Market/Beltline, or the majority of the Midtown restaurant scene between Ponce and 14th street. It’s even further from downtown but isn’t too far to walk to the Arts Center MARTA transit to get downtown. I’m not sure exactly where your family is located in downtown, but I would recommend something more centrally located in Midtown (HGI or a non-Hilton option if looking for something nicer) or if you need to be in the middle of downtown, there is a new Curio (Candler Hotel) which gets terrific reviews.
