Not really. I have friends nearby so usually stay with them. Definitely plan to do the loop drive up through the actual volcanic area. It is an experience unlike other mountainous areas in California. The vents and fumaroles are very interesting - and a bit smelly. The forested regions down below are nice for camping and hiking and there are places you can still see the ruts left by covered wagons traveling the Oregon Trail in the early 19th century. There is a very nice visitor center.
