I think that Marriott redemption categories are primarily about popularity/demand, rather than a primary signal of “luxury.” (Thus in a big popular city you might have a Cat 6 Fairfield, while in a smaller town there might be a Cat 2 or 3 Marriott).
I wouldnt necessarily link my expectations of service with the category of hotel.
