From arlflyer’s description maybe the Fontecruz is a better bet? For sightseeing focus near the water. Belam is a quick train ride and flat (also neat sites). Ditto for Cascais, which is a little further. Skip Sintra - I’m in good shape and my legs were a bit sore after the hiking involved there.
Overall my wife and I loved the city - highly recommend. Maybe focus on more accessible areas and use Uber for the trickier stuff.
I would agree with this. From the Fontecruz it is a very gradual 2km downhill to the waterfront. OP should certainly head out towards Belem to see the monastery, tower, monuments, museums, etc. Cascais is a great day trip in warm-weather seasons. I agree that Sintra is probably not quite up to the level of hype but I certainly found it worth a day trip, though the challenging walking was part of the fun.
