Southwest does this too. Last year I did a post-Thanksgiving Saturday night PVD-TPA 2330-0230 (or something like that) on them. When I first saw it I too thought GROSS but then thought, hmmm, I can spend the whole day and evening Saturday with family, then wake up in my own bed (late) Sunday morning and avoid the Sunday-after-T-giving travel drama, so I booked it.
I had Saturday night dinner with the in-law family, someone drove us to the airport which was empty at that hour (especially compared to what it would be the next day), I fell asleep before the safety demo in PVD, didn't wake up until final approach into TPA and had all day Sunday at home. Ended up being not bad at all!
