If the crew that diverted last night were used to reposition it, then they would need to have minimum rest before they could report to reposition the aircraft.
If the crew who were due to operate MRS-LHR were used to reposition it, they would have been resting / asleep when the aircraft diverted and it may have been on report at MRS before they were told they needed to get ground transportation to MPL to reposition the aircraft.
Given these variables, 12 hours isn't too bad. At least they repositioned the aircraft. I have seen instances of flights diverting where the aircraft is then positioned back to LHR empty.
