The portion of the T&C that's quoted says that tickets must be paid entirely with these cards, which would seem to exclude using a voucher/gift card/airline credit as well as (for example on DL) pay with miles. The Points Guy article later says that award tickets are covered if you pay taxes and fees with an AmEx card from the list, but I'm not sure I believe this. It's also ambiguous IMO what would happen if you purchase a ticket with for example a Plat charge card or DL Reserve card and then use points to purchase an upgrade that results in the ticket being reissued, especially if the cost in points is based on the fare difference.
