Additional ways NWA could generate revenue

NWA is should announce some additional ways to have customers share the cost of flying. These are only fair because only people who use the service will pay for it. Some of which are almost in place. How much additional income could they generate with following?

1. Charge credit card users an additional 3% for using a credit card, 2% for .US Bank Worldperks card members.

2. Charge people who bags must be handled $20 per bag. Those over weight bags will still be charged extra.

3. Customers who want to purchase gift certificates and want it on paper to give away will need to pay an extra $5.00 for the paper and $7.50 for using staff. If you want it mailed – that costs $10.00. BTW, Gift certificates can only be used on limited “Y” class flights in the next 12 months

4. In order to enter any NWA contests or promotions (Fly free, 123, Mil-zilla, refer a friend, mileage accelerator etc) will now need to pay $1 per entry per contest or promotion. Those promotion cost money to run.

5. Charge $1 for use of airplane restroom plus using the 10 cents for the soap, flushing is 50 cents. Toilet paper is included in the entry fee but they are watching its use.

6. If the flight is cancelled and you need to speak with an agent to get a meal voucher it will cost $5 per person. If you want a hotel voucher that will cost $30.

7. Charge an extra $5 landing fee if you land early, so what if the gate is blocked.

8. If you need assistance to get to a connecting flight you will need to give the gate agent $2.00 or $3.50 if they need to point what direction you go.

9. While flying, if you need to use the overhead light you will need to put in 25 cents for every 30 minutes.

10. After the plane lands you are welcome to use your cell phone but an extra $1 location fee will be added to your cell phone bill.

11. If passengers want the pilot to let them know the altitude and the approximately arrival time they will need to collect a minimum of $30 - $25 if you settle for a first officer.

12. Movies on A330 will now cost $3.95 each – headphones are $1 an hour to rent.

13. Passengers who get meals will not only be charged for the meal but an extra 50 cent charge for the plastic ware and $1 to have the tray removed.

14. All elites who change status during the year (move from non-elite to Silver, Silver to Gold, or Gold to Plat) will need to pay $15 before new cards and information is sent out. Each year you will need to pay $15 to get a card.

15. If NWA loses your baggage, for them to look for it will now cost you between $20 and $100 dollars depending on how soon you want it back.

16. Every time someone writes or mentions NWA, Northwest, or Northwest Airlines they must play the airlines a fee. This would include typing in www.nwa.com or writing about the movie North by Northwest.
