Right. I was thinking of doing a few fun weekends and not necessarily in one's home city. From LAX, Palm Springs, San Diego, and generally the California coast would be easy drives. Vegas is close but weekend traffic there can be terrible. Wine country would be fun too, but that's probably too far for even a long weekend. Using AA flights, one has PHX (Scottsdale etc.), Austen or San Antonio, Chicago, St Louis, etc.
