Back in the early days, IFE was one of the exciting new features that 747s offered. However, KL charged pax US$ 2.50 (US$14.00 in today's money) to rent a pair of really crappy earphones (basically a hollow tube with earbuds at the end), even in Royal Class.
My parents would make my sister and me share a pair. They must have been very hard up.
