There is a lot more to see in Madrid. I can easily spend a full day at the Prado. There are other great museums, monuments, parks, the Royal Place, plazas, fountains, grand boulevards and so much more. There are also some excellent places to eat.

San Sebastian, however, is in a separate class when it comes to food. There are three Michelin :-: :-: :-: restaurants and a total of eleven Michelin starred restaurants - the most in Spain - and lots of other great restaurants and pintxos (tapas) bars. You need advance reservations in most of the starred restaurants (for some of them, it may already be too late for October). If you do spend three days in San Sebastian, take a day trip to Bilbao.
