Remember operating profits exclude debt service. I've come to the conclusion that Parker and team don't give a damn about airline KPIs. What they care is not that you reach your destination on time but that you filled out a Barclay's credit card application inflight and handed it to a FA for expedited handling.
To be fair, the reason any business exists is to make a profit. For the most part, anything they do is done with that in mind.
