I had success till Feb 2018. Then got the following letter:

It seems important to clarify our policy. As is stated on our website, 'Free same-day standby will be provided for A-List and A-List Preferred Members traveling prior to the original scheduled departure, between the same city pairs, on the original date of travel, where a seat is available
. Your travel history reflects booking an itinerary and wanting to alter it to travel to a different destination. Such a practice is prohibited and is not an exception offered to any Customers.

The only time our “co-terminal” rules come into play are when irregular operations affect our service at a particular airport. In those situations, we may temporarily designate another airport as a “co-terminal” for the purposes of getting a Customer as close to their desired destination as possible. Under normal operations, though, the practice you’ve described is a violation of our Contract of Carriage and deprives Southwest Airlines of the revenue to which we are entitled. While we are glad to offer same day standby to our tier Members, travel should be completed between the same city pairs as originally booked. We sincerely regret if any of our Employees in the past have inconsistently enforced our Company policies in this area; accordingly, we have contacted our Station Leadership to ensure our Employees are correctly applying this special benefit to our valuable tier Members.

Once again, we appreciate having you as a Customer, and look forward to continuing to serve your travel needs in the future.
