There is some overlap between frequent flyers and aviation enthusiasts, but I don't think it should be assumed that everyone on this forum is the latter. I'd never heard the expression, and it wasn't even clear to me that it referred to a type of plane.
Having had three or four faultless flights in the past year on 747s, I guess it's a rather more appropriate name than plain old "Jumbo Jet" (which I do know).
