Just completed the outbound itinerary SGN-HKG-LAX-ORD with first class from HKG to LAX. Overall, it was a pretty nice trip. The hardware and services from Cathay Pacific are still one of the best. However, the food quality were underwhelmed. The à la carte menu in the Wing first lounge was very limited. They even offered some of the same food (eg. noodle soup) that you can find from the business section. Very disappointed. The food on the first cabin were not impressed. Yes you can still find lobster, champagne and caviar. But the taste of food items were not as good as what I experienced 10 years ago. In the past, I was so impressed by the DimSum options, which was as good as what I can find from a decent Cantonese restaurant. But I tried several dimsum from multiple flights, they all tasted like frozen food.
