I had a confirmed seat on my original flight... but was just trying to get out earlier than the 2.5 hour (and counting... inbound affected by mechanical issues so I didn't know how much longer it would be) delay my original flight was showing. Had there been any available seats on the earlier flights I would have just confirmed a seat on the earlier flights, but there weren't.
