I saw that as emblematic of Smisek-era United: little to no project coordination, on-the-cheap finishes, degraded customer experience and a soulless, generic 'feel'.

I never understood why they didn’t finish the seat cover project when they were installing new F. The new Airbus seat covers were long in use before the new F project was even begun.
Are the seat covers all that is different? The cushion felt more substantial too, but maybe that was placebo, or maybe an erroneous comparison to the 73_ slimlines.
