Flew 2 legs with SQ (>10hrs), one with Premium Eco, return with Eco (albeit exit row for leg room).
We arrived safely, on time, with luggage so far so good.
But service is bad: Book the cook? Works, but drinks will be served much later. Service took forever, slow and did not seem very organized.
Robotic smile, doing the minumum.
YOu need to ask for water, they used to walk the aisle with water and juice. Now you have to get in the galley and ask for anything.
You may have had a bad crew, no matter what they are still usually distribute drinks frequently, sometimes a bit over the board.
The BTC (and special meals) distribution before everyonelse, i think it should be well know in the meantime that the drinks will be distributed much later with main meal service. I dont consider that accepatbel, but it is handeld for years like that.

The newer IFE is overhelming, i must admit not easy to gain an overview, but the selection should be extensive enough to keep everyone busy for the flighttime. If you like mainstream 5 year old movies you may not be satisfied, but iam not really sure if MI sets a standard. Honestly, MI selection is really disappointting and not worth to download their app. Iam not sure i you have flown elswhere, if you look at mainstraem airlines like UA, TG, LH, LX etc you will instantly feel the difference. Iam still convinced that SQ for sure has the edge.

Was looking forward to flying with SQ, but indeed this airline is now basic as most others...Is this normal, did I have completely wrong expectations or bad luck?
Iam flying really a lot, I would be delighted which airline you feel give you the same "basic" experience.

I agree, thats what it is, a rant.

Not much to complain about as they go about doing the bare essentials, but hardly anything to be impressed by either.
Iam delighted to understand what the "extensive" cost cutting is? Except that i have seen some cheese packages disappering from the menu on regio flights, iam not really sure what you are really refering too.

As I never watch American films or television I find the IFE on most airlines pretty skimpy. There is the usual inverse relation between what the airlines promise and what they deliver. Standards started to decline the moment airlines started insisting that we weren't mere passengers but "customers" - go figure
What is your expectation of PEY? What would need to be there that you say, yes I book it? What you dont get with SQ, but you get it elswhere?
I would expect more room compare to Y, which I definetly get. No haggeling about the armrest with my neighbour and enough room if the guy in front of me decline his seat. What else would i expect? Extensive meals? Not sure. What else?
By the way: On the new A380 there is a loo before the galley in the rear of the PEY cabin and the curtains are kept close now.

The inbound flight was a different story - very attentive crew and was called by name for the entire flight. SQ service is nowadays very inconsistent and everything depends on the crew.
Thats poor. For me its usually the opposite. On Longhauls pretty consistently I would recieve prefered choice ahead, but it hardly ever happens on shorthaul/regional flights (which I do quite a lot in Y). SQ surely has to beef up on that, as the recognition of status in Y is so-so. But others a struggeling with this as well, not sure why because it is costneutral.
