So it will only be Chase Unlimited from now on and only because they cost $2.95 during June. In the meanwhile Amex Rose Gold is still giving me 4X MR at supermarkets, so that one it is for VGCs, even at $5.95 each.
I suggest you tread lightly on that as well. We don't have good DPs that Amex is actually still allowing GC purchases in other venues.
I did a quick check of a small ($600) GC purchase at Staples with Amex for Hilton and it did go through 1 month ago but that does not mean that they will permit large purchases. Just let us know how you fare with your Amex cards at supermarkets.
