I've been waiting my turn on one of the thin routes AA only flies once a day, like SFO-RDU, SFO-PHL, or SFO-MCO, just to see if they'd consider rerouting my on a competitor to get home or if they'd only give me the option of flying 24 hours later. Guess they wouldn't do that with your 4 hour delay, as it's too short, but wondering if any of the passengers on the morning flight were offered any other options, if you know.
Last month I was put on UA and my friend was put on DL for 4 hour delay in BJX. No AA status. In the old days AS would put people on other airlines for fairly minor delays. They seen to be more stingy lately, but not unreasonably so
