That's San Francisco for you these days. Prices are so obscene it makes Los Angeles seem reasonable.
From SFO you could head to Napa Valley if you are a wine drinker. LA, San Diego, and Las Vegas are also a short, cheap flight away.
I myself will be finally taking this fare in August. Very excited
