I flew the outbound, and was calling CX to change my JFK-HKG-SGN...when doing a dummy booking on the CX website, First Standard (A) is available for my dates, and EF shows A availability, but the agents on the phone say there is no availability in A on any flights on my original date or in the days before.
This has been a constant problem. We had an IRROPS situation where our return to Vietnam got cancelled. When we tried to rebook because of work conflicts, the agents were at the desk speaking to the Vancouver Reservation agents and they continued saying it was never available to rebook in the class of service we had, no matter what date we gave them. This was very unfair, especially since it was IRROPS. We finally just gave up.
