I flew the outbound, and was calling CX to change my JFK-HKG-SGN...when doing a dummy booking on the CX website, First Standard (A) is available for my dates, and EF shows A availability, but the agents on the phone say there is no availability in A on any flights on my original date or in the days before.
Hang up and call again. This is allowed for $100 if CX has inventory, which may differ from what EF is showing. I've called CX about this on 3+ tickets (booked on Orbitz) and didn't have issue changing them to a different date.
The hard part is changing the original outbound Vietnam-NA flights, seems to be only around 5-10% success rate.
