I'm not sure how the connection would line up, but you might also try looking for TN (Air Tahiti Nui) award space from NRT-PPT-AKL, and then VA from AKL-SYD/BNE-CNS. I dunno why DL partners with them for mileage redemption, but that might be an option. You have to call to book with TN.
