To be fair, a lot of it is a function of origin - the dishes are made up by the on-site caterer at whatever airport the flight is catered from. And there can be a huge difference - for example the food on pretty much all airlines is famously good when catered ex-NRT. So someone who has had a dish on one route could have had something that isn't really comparable to that which was catered on another route.
