I had a OC9->NC6 travel package certificate. I had Marriott detach it from an existing reservation I am no longer going to use. My hope was to convert/upgrade this to a NC7. Yeah unfortunately I think the agent might be right.
If you refer to the chart, OC9 has a refund value of 165K, which means the agent would cancel your OC9 and refund you 165k points to your account, than request/purchase a NC7 for 315k points. Therefore, you would need to pay the difference which is 150k points (315k - 165k)
