the V fares can get you 100% credit on some partners (alitalia/china eastern for plats, czech (up to 200% if you have any status with them) and saudi)
the *A u fares can net up to 50%, so they're not very good for mileage running, but good deals and for me - some really interesting destinations that i dont see pop up often in these sales.
