There's no luck involved if I am staying at my preferred IC's. But yes it could be the case at an IC that I don't frequent. However I have an optimistic attitude that these negative changes around upgrades and mini-bar will swing back the other way soon enough. The RA program has been with us a rather long time. I tend to take a harder look at it because fundamentally all my hotel costs come out of my own wallet rather than a huge corporate purse.
If the properties at which you are a frequent guest treat you so well (and that has not been my own personal experience) then RA also means nothing because the property would treat you well regardless right? It is hardly a ringing endorsement of the RA programme is it, more "look at me I am ok!".
