In February this year I flew from Guayaquil Ecuador to Bogota with a connection to Cartagena. This meant transferring from the international terminal to the domestic terminal. It was quite the worst airport experience of my life - a total nightmare so unless you have several hours in which to make the transfer I would urge people to stay the night in Bogota. We only made it by walking to the front of the vast queue at passport control and pleading with an official that we had a connection in two hours. She allowed us to jump the queue. They still took over 15 minutes to check our passports and basically interrogate us.
Cartagena is great - we stayed three nights at the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara in a suite located on the gorgeous third floor cloister.
