I'm planning to fly between islands in Hawaii using miles. My most likely routing is KOA-LIH. I know there is a nonstop flight but I'm curious if I can book a one-stop in HNL and make a day trip out of it. I.e. take the first flight in the morning KOA-HNL and then a late evening flight HNL-LIH.

The Hawaiian Airlines website doesn't show this as an option (it caps at ~2h layover), but does show availability for the individual flights on separate itineraries. Will I be able to call in and request a one-way redemption with a long (~12 hour) layover?
