If you're
sure you want to downgrade, make a separate call to
just ask for that. They get downgrade requests all the time, many people who aren't FTers don't even know to try for retention offers, so all they ask when they call is to downgrade. Then if the fronttline agent tells you that you can't but doesn't explain why, ask to be elevated to a supervisor.
But there
may be a timing issue. There are rumors that they may not be allowing downgrades until the new Aviator card benefits are actually rolled out (not just announced). Or they may have a temporary freeze on all downgrades, since just above your post someone was denied a downgrade from Arrival+ to Arrival.
