GUM-HNL should require a GPU and minimum W fare, but it has historically been very inconsistent when it comes to the computer. I would take what the computer gave you and ask no more questions
Otherwise, as long as there are no stopovers along the way, it is normal for one certificate to cover that. I once used one GPU to upgrade NRT-GUM-(hopper)-HNL-LAX-SFO.
