I waded through the T&C and I think I get those rules (mostly) now. I think I'm going to scrap this trip idea and investigate more west coast or Central America destinations. It makes that initial trip to Toronto more palatable. I may call them and see if reversing the transaction can be reversed and if so what the time limit might be. it might be the best course of action.

Note you cannot mix AC with AA, LA, or any carrier other than CX in an AM award. Once your points have been converted to AM, it would be close to impossible to be converted back.
