BlueGreen Vacations The Club at Big Bear Village

Just completed a 3 night stay at The Club at Big Bear Village in a 2 Br, 2 Ba unit. While Big Bear should not at all be considered a "serious" destination for skiing, there are a couple of mountains nearby that offer "okay" skiing (fun for a day or three) within a short distance of the LA area (about 2.5 hours closer than world-class Mammoth). The hotel was clean and room was excellent, with a large, full kitchen, two spacious bedrooms and bathrooms (one with a large soaking tub), along with living room with patio access and a fireplace and a single-car garage that can be used for storing ski (or other recreation gear). Full two car garages are included with the larger 4 bedroom units. Hotel grounds were well kept, with BBQs and whirpool still available in the winter, although the full-size pool and children's pool were covered for the winter. The hotel (and Big Bear in general) are very family-friendly, with two "game rooms" onsite and a kids' activity room. The hotel is located within The Village, a collection of shops and restaurants, and is a very short drive to Vons and Stater Bros grocery stores. I'd highly recommend this hotel as one of the jewels within the Choice system, and will definitely be back to check it out in the summer. Based on availability, the hotel seems to be offering 25% of the best nightly rate as far as I could see when 3 consecutive nights are booked, which seems like a decent deal given what AirBnB and VRBO rates are showing for similarly-sized rentals.
