Cancellation Policy

I've previously booked Holiday Inn in Shanghai for four rooms for three nights for a proposed business trip.
However, the trip was cancelled and it was indeed my fault that I forget that the package I had was not 24-hr cancellation policy, but 72-hr. (I did cancel my reservation before 24 hours but unfortunately within 72 hours)
I am IHG Gold member, which I know isn't any impressive.
But is there any chance they may be able to waive my penalty out of goodwill? Just want to hear some DPs, and if anyone know whom I should ask?
Call them? Or I read some people talking about contact them by Twitter? (But I can't find their Twitter Message account.
