Well at the risk of stating the obvious, indeed if you need to be in the city then I would not book at the airport, especially not on weekends when hotels are cheaper in the city than during the week. I would also not book at Hilton during the week for sightseeing in the city because you will waste close to one hour each way and I am not sure it's worth the savings and hassle.
Hilton having more stable rates week days vs weekends is not surprising given that it's an airport hotel.
