I always just say that I saw a 75k mile offer, and ask if they could please match me to that offer. I let them calculate the amount to give me. It seems like if I ask for more than I'm allowed, they won't give it to me (ie, I don't gain anything), but if I ask for less it might cost me. So I'd rather just not mention it.
