If your internet experience consists of a heavy dose of Facebook, Twitter and Google-owned sites, then don't fly Chinese airlines if you expect to surf while airborne.
This is true, but is an easy problem to solve. I personally don't use FB or Twitter, but my company uses Gsuite for email/calendar, and of course I use Google as my primary search engine. On a somewhat related note, I bought a wifi pass from Delta on my ATL-PVG flight last month, and it stopped working as soon as we entered Russian airspace ~7 hours into the 15 hour flight, and didn't work in PRC airspace either. By contrast, MU wifi never lets me down, and of course it's free.
