Please accept my apologies if this has been posted before but I’ve done a quick search and couldn’t find anything

I have always used emirates miles but since they have stopped using their credit cards to gain points I’ve switched cards to a virgin points card.
We used to save up our miles and then use them to upgrade (if available) 48hours before departure to business.

Currently I have 45k miles and I’m racking up around 20-25k per month.

We have booked a family family holiday for 2020 to Florida and I’m taking my parents aswell as the Me the mrs and the 2 children.
When we come to book the flights I will have accumulated approximately 150k miles and when we actually travel we would have approximately 400k miles.

Im looking for your expert advice on how best it would be to use these. Ideally I’d like to use them for an upgrade to upper class but not sure if this is possible.
